Geek Alert!: The Last Airbender: The Legend of Korra
If you loved Aang in The Last Airbender: Legend of Aang, the animated series, you wouldn’t probably want to miss out on its sequel series, The Last Airbender: The Legend of Korra. Set to air its premiere episode in mid-2012, but no specific date was given yet.
DiMartino and Konietzko are geniuses. Avatar is the only animated series I know I’ve truly enjoyed watching. It contains an amazing story line, interesting characters, and an over-all awesomeness rate.
So if you’re one of the many who’s been following this Nickelodeon series from the start, I know you’ll be in for another exciting ride in The Legend of Korra.
Here’s a short write-up on what to expect in this aniticipated series:

After the conclusion of the War, Aang and Zuko brought people from the four nations together and founded the United Republic, creating Republic City, a large “metropolis powered by steampunk-type technology” such as cars and motorcycles. Aang and Katara had three children, the youngest (and only Airbender) of which is Tenzin. Meanwhile, Toph Bei Fong traveled extensively to teach Metalbending. After Aang’s death, the next Avatar, Korra, was born to the Southern Water Tribe.
At the present time 70 years after the end of the War, Korra is a rebellious 17-year-old girl. As the Avatar, she has already mastered Waterbending, Earthbending and Firebending. She will learn Airbending from Aang andKatara’s son Tenzin. Tenzin himself is married; Pema is his wife. Jinora, a “bookworm”, and Ikki, a “motor-mouth”, are his daughters while Meelo, his youngest child, is his son.
The primary and only confirmed setting is Republic City. Anti-benders called “Equalists”, who oppose the art of bending, utilize techniques such as chi-blocking to further their goals of revolution, led by Amon. Korra must fight rampant crime and the anti-bender revolt, assisted by two brothers, Mako, a Firebender, and Bolin, an Earthbender. She is also joined by her animal guide, Naga, and the Metalbending police force of Republic City, who are led by Toph’s daughter.

The 81st Academy Awards and more…

Has everyone seen the Oscars live this morning? I happened to watch only the first half of its live telecast and sure missed a lot of the awarding of the most anticipated categories this year. But thanks to KC, a.k.a “Astroboy”, I hadn’t missed one single info on the winners. Hugh Jackman sure have done a great job in the opening performance of the Oscars. Despite not being a natural comedian, he carried his act well by showing his versatility in entertaining people. I’d have to say, he’s pretty good at dancing. I’d give him five stars for a job well done. Who would forget Ben Stiller’s impersonation of the now-fully-bearded Joaquin Phoenix? It was hilarious. However, some of the international viewers, including my younger sister, may not have guessed what the joke was. She even asked me this question, “Who’s that guy?”. It’s unfortunate not everyone got the making-fun-of-Joaquin-Phoenix thing. I would like to congratulate Kate Winslet for winning “Best Actress” in her astounding performance on “The Reader”, she deserved it, and Sean Penn for snagging the “Best Actor Award” from co-rivals. It was clear from the start he would win the said category. It’s hard acting as a gay man if you’re straight in reality. Unsurprisingly, the movie who took home the most awards in this prestigious ceremony was none other than “Slumdog Millionaire”. I was kind of expecting these results even weeks before the Academy Awards. I’m hoping this movie would be released here in the Philippines. I wouldn’t want to miss seeing an Academy Award-winning film.
While I was reading Yahoo’s featured inside scoop on the Academy Awards, I decided to listen to some music. I searched for some good music saved in my computer’s hard-drive. Then I found Nichole Nordeman’s “Legacy”. I remembered every time I was listening to this song, I gain the awareness of what I live my life for and why I want to leave a legacy in this world. Now I’m asking you, what kind of legacy do you want to leave when you are done with this life? Just listen to this song and let its message have an impact in your life.
Here's the lyrics of the song:
I don't mind if you've got something nice to say about me
And I enjoy an accolade like the rest
You could take my picture and hang it in a gallery
Of all who's who and so-n-so's that used to be the best
And such and such... it wouldn't matter much...
I won't lie, it feels alright to see your name in lights
We all need an 'Atta boy' or 'Atta girl'
But in the end I'd like to hang my hat on more besides
The temporary trappings of this world
I want to leave a legacy
How will they remember me?
Did I choose to love? Did I point to You enough
To make a mark on things?
I want to leave an offering
A child of mercy and grace who
blessed your name unapologetically
And leave that kind of legacy
I don't have to look too far or too long awhile
To make a lengthy list of all that I enjoy
It's an accumulating trinket and a treasure pile
Where moth and rust, thieves and such will soon enough destroy
Not well-traveled, not well-read, not well-to-do or well-bred
Just want to hear instead, "Well done, good and faithful one..."
The Morning Rush with Chico and Delamar – RX 93.1

*Dedicated to Chico and Del and the forever faithful Rushers.
To be honest, I’m not an avid radio listener. But by the time I came to hear the Morning Rush, I experienced a turn-around in the way I look at radio shows. Don’t you just love after waking up in the morning and being done with your morning preparations to finally have the chance to turn on your radio and hear the voice of sweet Del and the ever-so-charming Chico. I know that every Rusher’s morning would not be complete without having tuned in to the Morning Rush. It’s like not having coffee for caffeine addicts or going to work without taking a shower. =) We all know that the Morning Rush is truly one show that became a part of our everyday lives. Reminiscing back to those embarrassing times when we laughed uncontrollably and then people started looking at us because we are alone in a public place. How we would always remember those days. One of my most unforgettable topics in the Top Ten would be the “how would you know if your house is haunted” or something like that. I could recall Del’s story of having heard coin dropping on the bathroom floor. That topic sure worked up my imagination. And how could we forget Chico’s impression of the dogs from Hell, we all smiled stupidly at the thought of what he would look like doing those barking sounds. Morning Rush showcases good music, interaction with listeners, pure fun, and more.
To Chico and Del: You are the best radio jocks ever. You deserve the awards you won. I pray for all the best in your careers. =)
To Fellow Rushers: You’ve been a part in making this radio station No.1. Cheers to us! =)
God bless to you all! More success to the Morning Rush and RX 93.1!
American Idol Season 8 Favorites
Now that the top 36 finalists have been revealed, the real competition for the next American Idol starts. I’ve watched the start of Season 8 since the first day of auditions. I’m excited to discover new faces in this competition so I never missed one episode of it. There were many promising hopefuls who have really done a great job in blowing us off our seats with their amazing voices. This season started off with lots of unexpected surprises and new-found talented newbies. I believe in this stage, every viewer has already someone they’re eyeing or placing their bets on. There were many early favorites who breezed through all the rounds, and one of them is Danny Gokey.
A 28-year-old widower we’ve seen in the Kansas audition. His singing ability was quickly recognized by the judges, even Simon was definitely impressed by him. In this type of competition, it’s not just how you impact the audience and the judges with your talent, but it’s crucial to have a story to tell that they will remember you by. We’ve all heard of the tragic death of his wife just months before the auditions. While I was watching that particular episode, his story really touched my heart. I admire him for being strong despite losing the love of his life. It was the sincerity in his character that made him stand-out from the other finalists. I’ve recently watched his first performance as one of the Top 36, he sang Mariah Carey’s “Hero”. It was amazing, he was even commented as the best performance of the night. But I agree with Simon’s criticism, he could definitely do more with his voice. In my opinion, he should choose songs where he could showcase more his good vocal quality and range. He is surely one Idol finalist, you should be keeping your eyes on.

Moving on to Adam Lambert.

Besides his good looks and acting skills, the 26-year-old Adam Lambert, from the San Francisco auditions, unquestionably has more to offer. For some unexplainable reasons, I just like him. Maybe because he’s quite good-looking being the reason I have a close watch on him. He’s interesting enough and with all the rumors circling around of him being gay, my curiosity sure is boiling. I’d definitely keep my eyes open.
